After listening to Jim Peterik's World Stage... I think JP could probably out-sing Dave Bickler. His voice was good on Survivor's debut but went downhill from there. "Caught in the Game" benefits from good writing but he's got "last-night-of-the-world-tour" voice. Strained and weary, it was confirmed ten years later by the two newly recorded tracks on the Greatest Hits.

well, by '98, his voice was pretty much shot and he was pretty weakened on CITG back in 1983, but in '93 his voice was as strong (Premonition/Eye of the Tiger) as it ever was. What you were hearing on CITG was the first signs of nodes on the vocal cords--which was why he had to leave the band in the first place. The songs on the GH were just sung in a lower pitch...and as an fyi...the high pitched solo part in "You Know Who You Are" was actually Frankie Sullivan, NOT Dave Bickler. Still said though, his voice was as good as ever when he rejoined Survivor in '93. As far as voices go, Jimi Jamison is in the good one night, so so the next night as far as live performances go. Saw them in Virginia in August and his voice was missing a bit and the 2 live tracks on JJ's Empires cd were less than impressive vocally, IMO.
