I guess everyone handles death differently. I always found it strange as well when this outpouring of grief was given for a celebrity as such. However I've found on a handful of occasions in my life now, where I've been genuinely physically upset when someone I did not know personally has passed. I've got one mate who sends on tweets and messages every week about an artist he loved passing, and he genuinely feels each one.
My old man has brought up in story many times about how he felt when John Lennon died. He was genuinely gutted and physically upset. This coming from a man who didn't shed a tear for his own dad.
