The really interesting stuff is found in his work ethic. He's an educated player, but even with that, he wasn't quite ready for studio work when he got with Mellencamp. How he handled that is a fascinating lesson with humility, passion, and sheer guts. Came away from the book really admiring how he did the work needed to be the drummer people needed. Some good anecdotes, too.
