Blackmore's Night has released two albums, 'Shadows Of The Moon' and 'Under A Violet Moon'.
If you like 'minstrel music', then this is the band for you.
IMO, 'Shadows' is the better of the two.
'Violet' has got more electric guitars than 'Shadows' (as far as I can recall, there are only one or two tracks with electric gutiars on it), The songs are more well, 'pop'
as opposed to 'Shadows' being a more mellow affair.
At times Blackmore's Night reminds me of the Mike Oldfield/Maggie Reilly partnership.
Songwise, there are plenty of reworked 'trad.arr' material.and lyrically, it's all medieval romanticism. Candice Night has got a beautiful voice which fits the music perfectly.
On 'Violet' there is a cover of Rainbow's 'Self Portrait'. Talk about covering your own songs. The best moments on 'Violet', like 'Under A Violet Moon' and 'Morning Star' gives Abba a good run for the money.
Brilliant stuff.
