So the song might have existed in the Go version first, and Triumph wanted to change it, and then Signal used the original. Who knows for sure.

According to the Marcie Free webpage, that is exactly what happened. The original song was "Go". Triumph took the song, reworked it a little and released it as "Running in the Night". Then, when Signal was formed, with some of the writers of the song being in the band, they used the original version for the cd.
