The “MSG” stuff, the first two in particular were by design supposed to be more commercial. It’s exactly what Schenker and the record company wanted at the time...a slice of the success pie that was being dished out to Jovi, ‘Snake, Europe etc via getting played on MTV.
I think Perfect Timing is actually a really good record of the mix on the “Boomy” drums perhaps couldn’t have been less huge sounding. Overall love it though. Save Yourself was also good for the most part and sounded better. Nightmare / MSGIII or whatever it’s called wasn’t as good for me.
Robin was also working with Paul Chapman some time ago. Initially on re-records of Chapman’s UFO stuff, but before it could go beyond a few “polished demo’s”, he was off to SURVIVOR and as far as I know, Paul never went back to the tapes. A few of the demos are out there I believe .
