Two Exceptional Ballads (re-discovered)

I've said it before, I'm no huge fan of ballads. I often tend to feel they're "just another ballad" and those must touch my feelings in a way other, more uptempo songs, doesn't necessarily have to. I have to connect to slow songs to enjoy them and even though it's rare, once in a while that happens.
Journey - Easy To Fall (Trial By Fire, 1996)
I've been spinning Trial By Fire a couple of times lately and while I think it's a great album for the most part, it's definitely ballad heavy. I can't stomach that many ballads so I tend to skip those more often than not. That could be the reason why I've overlooked Easy To Fall for so long.
I think it's far superior to the other slower songs on TBF and for some reason, I really love it. Awesome song....both instrumentally and vocal melodies. Perry sounds phenomenal, of course.
Foreigner - I Can't Give Up (Can't Slow Down, 2009)
Another one I haven't really payed much attention to, but my god, what a great song that is. I loved When It Comes To Love on this album, so I guess the rest of the ballads fell into the background. I have listened to it of course....but never really taken it to me.
I threw a couple of random tracks on CDR, for the car stereo, a couple of weeks ago, and this song ended up on there. When it came on in the mix of other songs it just clicked with me. It's like I heard it in a whole new light. Kelly Hansens vocals are a big part of my enjoyment but I think it's a beautiful song, in every way.
Two newly re-discovered excellent ballads that are the exception.
