Well, the fact that Mercury Records wasn't behind the Legs Diamond
reissues says alot. The artwork for the Zoom Club cd's were seemly.
In particular, the Legs Diamond S/T reissue cover looks fuzzy-like it was
a scanned image off an old LP sleeve. One of the Wild Horses CD covers
looks pretty bad too.
It also appears that someone named "Crusoe" who incidentally does much work for Escape handled the image manipulation. I don't think the guy had much to work
with, so the results could have been better if they had access to the
original artwork to use, but I guess Mercury didn't want that to happen.
I cannot understand why these old record companies don't hand off the rights to other independent companies who have great interest in reissuing their older LP's usually gathering dust.
It seems like Japan doesn't seem to have that problem as much as
the US or Europe, ie, brilliant reissues for Survivor, Santers, Herman Ze German,
Samson, White Wolf, Schon/Hammer, Uli John Roth, Zeno, Y and T,
Black n' Blue, Vinnie Vincent, Wrabit, Trooper, Wild Horses, Jon Lord,
Vandenberg, etc. all handled very well in terms of quality.
