I don't know why he doesn't have a contract anywhere other than Japan, but I remember reading somewhere that he is a bit reclusive, and difficult to work with at times. I know ocasionally he has done the International Queen Convention(s) where he does a set or two and Brian May has sat in with him at a least one of these.

It will be interesting to see what Queen does with the vocalist situation, as I think this will be more difficult than replacing Perry in Journey, or Roth/Hagar in VH.
