Live shows between the US and the rest of you guys

Just wondering, John and Eric raise some good points below.

I know in the US, at least in NJ, it's easier to step out and see any number of cover bands (though this area has some good clubs to see original and national level melodic acts), is the rest of the world like this as well?

Is this just a Yankee thing that some would rather see a Poison cover band as opposed to the real thing? THe only thing I can think of is arena ticket prices are so completely out of hand these days. I just paid $75 face value to see Bon Jovi recently. And I paid $85 face value earlier this year to see Tina Turner/Lionel Richie. How do arena shows stack up price wise everywhere else?
