I spent some time after talking to he band, both Oni and George did say they had had some tech issues. George mentioned that the amp he was using was one of of his prized and valuable vintage Marshall’s. I am only assume if he appeared distracted the day before it was probably as you say, “concern” his gear was going to hold out.
In London, he sounded great, had the vintage tone we all love and appeared to enjoying the show. I too have observed over the years, that he doesn’t always look “settled” at gigs. He does appear quite lost on his own world which can look like he’s “not there”. I think it’s just his way.
Performance-wise, sound and vibe..they were great last night. But right at the end of Testify...the amps just went. He apologised from the stage and hey did briefly have a look at the amp, but with no quick back up that could be hooked up, it was a no go. I know it’s easy for fans to say “just hottie the support acts rig”, but as we know..it takes time to rig, mic it and do they levels from from the board etc.
