To John Taglieri and Andrew

In reference to John T.'s post, and some of Andrews responses below, Andrew, Yes I would go spend time on the beach, as this morning, here in Minnesota I have below zero temperatues, with 2 feet of Snow, and more expected later today. (how's it feel SFK Kurt?), so enjoy it! Giving up on the web site, is not an option for you, and you know it as music is your passion, like it is for most of us who visit it.

To John- I agree on most of what you say. There is little support for this scene from the average fan. Not to run defensive in relation to my previous comments, I don't consider myself "Doom & Gloom", but looking at things realisticly. I am in the process of forming a new label at the moment, and I am receiving demo's by both AOR and Progressive bands. In AOR what is sent to me, maybe one or two really stand out as offering something new. After a while all the Journey sound alikes become a blur. With the Progressive demos all the Marillion, IQ demo soundalikes tend to blend, so the situation is the same with that scene. I believe the Indie scene just mirrors what is happening in Popular Culture. Remakes of old Movies, the 70's retro fad, etc... I don't fall for that "What Goes around Comes around" line, as to me thats just creative laziness. I just can't see how a band doing rehash of what Journey did in 1981, or White Lion did in the late 80's is helping the scene, and because I feel that way, I am somehow not supporting it?

Perhaps the reason why Fans are not showing up to these shows is a Quality issue? I can go and see two or three 80's cover bands doing Poison, Journey and the like-tonight here in the bars of the Twin Cities, and I am sure it's the same were you live assuming you are from the US. The Gods and Ultrasound are different how? I am not denying the work, sacrafice and support it took/takes for these events to be staged, but perhaps there are other reasons why turnout was low for Ultrasound?

To the others on the board who disagree with my, and others comments -all the Teenage, Lighter in the Air, "Keep the Faith", "Melodic Rock Lives" tripe bandied about to counter what could and should be a constructive effort to come up with ways to make the scene more vital, really serves no one. I agree with John- Get involved! Start writing for a magazine, create a AOR homepage, work with the bands, do promotion work (without looking for money in return). Dozens of new bands are looking for help, so are the older bands and artists. It doesn't take much, so give something back.
