Well why don't we do something about it?

This site, sorry Andrew :-), even in our estimation is not important enough to drastically cause a rethink in the marketing strategies of the majors but why not let's make a concerted effort to punish the next band and or label who does it? Only problem is that I doubt we'd all hold our nerve but I think it would be worth a go. Next artist who does this - just boycott their next release. Heap the bad publicity on them. And don't listen to the artists who blame the label - the artist is the one who signs the "contract" with the label - they're the other party to this. I know the other argument is that you "don't have to buy it" but that's the artists / labels wanting it both ways. When it suits them - it's just "product" that you can take or leave, when it suits them to say something different it's a matter of conviction and even criticising an artist is "failing to support the scene".
