I say to hell with metallica. First off in 1999 the music industry made more money than in recent years, i think BECAUSE of free MP3's. I do download somgs off of Napstar and other places, but like all fans of their respective bands we then seek out these rare songs. The only 2 solutions to this is 1) don't do any "B-sides" that is the bulk of rock/metal downloads. 2) release it! If you record a shitload of rare covers or tracks that didn't make it....sell it! Shame on the band. Also about live bootlegs. Why not have the sound guy record the concert and tell fans who attend the show "show proof of attendance and you can buy the cd to the show you just saw for (lets say) $. Hell for the shows i go 2 I would.
