LOL

For the record... I never said he was the sole 'Voice' of Toto. He was simply my fav and the one who stood out most. I know band ego scenarios quite well, and it's quite possible that Luke and co. harbor a tad of resentment towards bK as he likely got tons of attention for his vocals in the band. I do agree that he slagged them off over things you mentioned and that's not cool. But none of these guys have acted like saints over the long years,as pointed ot by others here. You made very good points for sure. But I still enjoy Bobby's vocal work with Toto more than Luke or Paich (or Williams OR Fergie). And I do like those guys as singers, too. T

For YEARS Bobby Kimball has marketed and/or toured as either " Toto " or " The Voice Of Toto" he even did a live orchestral album ( The Voice of TOTO Frankfurt Rock Orchestra? 1990) in the early 1990's of toto songs..many he never sang originally or were recorded after he was fired in early 1984

99, I'll Be Over You, I won't Hold You Back, Out OF Love to name a few.

Bobby has toured ( I witnessed it in person) in 1994 when TOTO came to Oakbrook Terrace IL when it was BK touring as TOTO. I had the venue change the name as it was fraud.

Bobby Kimball continued touring as TOTO or calling himself the Voice Of Toto ( so did Fergie for over 15 years)
THen that mostly slowed down until Luke A CO-FOUNDER Of Toto along with Paich and company, decided he had enough ( his right he owes nobody a thing fans included after 31 years)

Luke was the main or co-lead songwriter, Lead Guitarist, Co-Lead Singer & Frontman of Toto ( still is) & the only guy who was there for every album, session & live gig. If he wanted 5% more than the others..so what? He decided it was done. Agree or not it was HIS say.

Regardless if you like him as person, singer whatever..Kimballs been ripping off the band, tarnishing the legacy and ILLEGALLY selling TOTO music & merch and promoting himself as Toto or Voice of Toto for the well over 12 years

For the Record..
Toto doesnt need me or anyone to speak for them. They do outstanding business overseas in Europe, Asia and many other markets selling out 20-50,000 seat sheds & festivals while Bobby sullyies his legacy with TOTO ( my opinion) by singing terribly while promoting himself as the REAL VOICE of toto.

I just get pissed off when i see people slagging & ripping Luke & the band for not wanting a guy who can't hack it anymore & who rips them.

BK flat-out cannot hack it anymore and hasnt for a long time (without Auto-tune, Melodyne etc)

He also accuses Joseph Williams & TOTO for singing songs live he, BK originated ( Hilarious as They mostly cover Paich, Luke & JW songs)

Hmmmm see here in this video ( skip along for songs played) & see for yourself how many songs BK does that not only he never sang on but Wasn't even in the band at the time they were recorded/released! Yeah Voice of the band Toto my ass.

for your listening pleasure:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-LGlOulgu4 Nov. 2012 live

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1OWIOjje2M Live in Asia 2009?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yX_ymJTe6UM Africa 2008 live

Re: Guys....

LOL

Gotta admit it,DD--yer scarin' me here. or maybe you just want to drag out this thread to see how long we'll bite(?). I sure hope it's the later, guy. Toto had three accomplished singers who obviously WANTED to sing lead on some of their tunes--espescially since they WROTE alot of them. But they also knew the huge value in having Bobby in the band to have that great variety/mix of singing styles within one band. KImball was a natch standout for his clear, high tenor. It's a headturner and gave them that much more ammo as a group. It's just that simple, really. I'm glad they still went on to do well w/o BK,but I for one never thought of them quite as highly after IV. Never even got KOD or Tambu til more recently, and admittedly don't go back to them tho I think they're decent enough. if I want to hear classic Toto--it's those first 4 any & every time for me. T

PS: in all honesty-- I think the band struggled greatly to find a replacement for Bobby. They were o the fast track to stardom with IV with those monster singles-and them already being an established act with other hits from earlier records. It was a damn shame they couldn't continue with BK as they'd have been HUGE. Instead--they did just ok and kind of faded out here in the US by & large. Cool they remained popular in other parts of the world, tho. Even so--you can tell how Luke is/was MAJORLY bummed about their lack of momentum here in their native land. I'll bet he always harbored some pretty strong regrets of how that all came down with Bobby having to leave. Right on the brink of super stardom...

There can be no doubt BK
> takes the high part. Think of 1990s Toto, DP and
> SL were still in the band but the high part live
> was always taken by the female backing singers or
> Byron.

Spot on, shame to ruin the chimps' tea party that preceded your contribution though ! :)

I don't like their ballads overall, and there can be too many of these at times....

"Seventh One" is good, but like a lot of their stuff there are quite a lot of fillers. Not necessarily bad songs, but songs that compare poorly to their great songs.

The first three albums are in my opinion in average better than the rest, with the exception of "Tambu". I think "Falling IN Between" had a lot of good moments too, and to the contrary of many I enjoyed their cover album.

Actually, the only voice I really like is David Paich's. He is probably the least good technically, but as I am not a fan of high pitched singers, he is the one I prefer.

Toto for me really is at their best in a live setting.

I never said Bobby was not singing (or miming) in that clip.

Still, that says nothing about the record. Read the sleeve. It cannot be read incorrectly at all. Listen to the song. You can hear Bobby sharing the chorus with Luke. That's it.
