MSG - What's your favorite era?

Mine is The late 90's outing "The Unforgiven" with Kelly Keeling. Simply the overall best album musically and lyrically from him. Great stuff!

I was introduced to MSG with Perfect Timing and while that's a decent album I didn't really start listening to him until the 1991 self titled release (which I find near perfect in every way)

Now, I went back and rediscovered the Barden era and find One Night at Budokan to be my fave Barden era release.

It is Sundin on vocals then?

I didn't mean to compare guitarists at all, just explaining what it is I love so much about Schenker's playing. I couldn't choose any of them over the other, to be honest....but it's just when it comes to feel for melodies I prefer Moore/Shcenker. When it comes to innovation and tricks/chops, I still think EVH is untouchable. He was way ahead of time with his playing.

I could probably explain it like, I feel Schenker's playing while I'm in awe of EVH's. There is a difference. ;-)

// Figge

He sounds like he thinks the stuff up in his head and then sits down and figures out how to make those sounds. Guitarist like that are often very poor at on the spot improv and I would put Ed in that category , except on his very best days. And as we've said before when guys like that have a bad day they sound shite. A guitarist like Moore would never put in a shocker unless he was off his tits as Schenker has a habit of being from time to time LOL.

Moore's still top 5 for me along with Rhoads and a couple of others who would take some decision making.

I like Written In The Sand as a laid back rock album and Save Yourself is also on my shelf.........decent album but bought it mostly for Anytime...

Perfect Timing I think is massively over-rated - I bought it on the basis that it's considered a classic and (just like Grand Prix- Samurai) was seriously underwhelmed.

I also have Assault Attack and that never did much for me other than Desert Song. Built To Perform is probably a bit more consistent in my eyes.
