No Son Of Mine, Jesus He Knows Me and Driving The Last Spike is as good of an opening trio of songs you can get.<br /><br />Phil Collins is such an underrated vocalist. Some great raspy higher range stuff in his early career. Mama is one of the finest rock vocal performances there is.]]></description>

They were on top of their game in the progressive years and they outright dominated the 80's pop years, be it the band or the solo efforts of the artists.<br /><br />Heck, even their oldies-sounding debut from the late 60's was a cut above a lot of the other groups that got all the airplay on the radio. You really can't go wrong no matter what you choose.<br /><br />But given the personal preference. My Top 3 favorites in order are...Trick of the Tail...Duke...Foxtrot.]]></description>

The last couple of Collins albums and Calling All Stations have the odd decent track but nothing I really go back to very often.<br /><br />It would have been fascinating to hear the direction they'd have gone in had Kevin Gilbert joined the band, such a shame he never got chance.]]></description>

Although there are some other superb tracks such as One For The Vine,Turn It On Again,Keep It Dark,Land Of Confusion.<br />Selling England By The Pound,Trick Of The Tail from Gabriel era. Stand outs could be Suppers Ready,I Know What I Like,Musical Box,Cinema Show.]]></description>

<title>Re: Genesis help</title><link>http://www.melodicrock.com/phorum52/read.php?1,932897,932924#msg-932924</link><description><![CDATA[ I love albums from both the Gabriel and Collins eras of Genesis, but they are quite different propositions.<br /><br />'Lamb' is a magnificent, overblown, prog rock tour-de-force and if you like this then head straight off and buy 'Selling England'which contains many quite magical moments.<br /><br />I carried on buying their albums after Gabriel left, and 'Trick Of The Tail', 'And Then There Were Three' and subsequent offerings all make the grade in my estimation.<br /><br />Have fun in your quest!<br /><br />Paul]]></description>

I haven't been able to get into the full-prog stylings of their early Gabriel-years just yet but the Collins albums are excellent.<br /><br />Starting with Duke (1980), their albums became less progressive, and the first album I got was the self-titled Genesis one from 1983, it's great. Mama is one of my favourite songs of all time.]]></description>
