Frankly, I'm a bit shocked at the extent they copied WS's 1987. Don't get me wrong, the performances are flawless, in particular David Readman's voice, but really, what's the point? It's one thing paying tribute to a band/record, but pretty much cloning parts and almost entire songs is something else. To me the only song that truly stands on its own is the amazing ballad "Alissa". I like it- more than I've liked a Whitesnake album since 1987. As long as the songs aren't ripping off riffs and melodies I don't have a problem with bands doing albums "in the style of". Readman's vocals are OUTSTANDING!! It certainly isn't a 'waste of talent' to produce performances like those on the VC album...it's simply great to hear the vocals sound so good and also to hear some really fabulous guitar work (even if he does occasionally slip into 'over-shred' territory...)

You could play the new VC album to someone not in the know and pass it off as Whitesnake. No one, to my knowledge, plays quite like this except them.

"Tears In The Rain" is a carbon copy of "Cryin In The Rain".

A lot of posters here seem to crave s return to the 'golden years' sound but, when a band does produce an album like that they get pilloried for not being original.
