I understand when it's used for an independant release and it's paid "out of pocket" so to speak by the band members.

Shit, now I'm confused. I like it sometimes ... not others. It's acceptable here, but not there. Basically folks, you can chaulk this up as me not knowing what I want!

As for social media, I actually don't get too deeply involved: and - for instance - I shun Facebook, which I have decided is a quite dangerous place.

Hence I am always upfront with my identity, but everyone can make their own choice on that one, obviously. As a media writer, it would be silly of me to try and hide behind a facade.

As for not using my name to post, you can't tell me that you haven't seen that before ... I would imagine the majority of chat groups on the internet has people using login names. I'm not quite sure how this works, but as long as the purchaser is prepared to do the "due diligence" and perhaps pay a little more, then the format of choice can often be found.

It's digital music I cannot abide, especially when bonus tracks to a physically released album only come in that format (e.g. via iTunes). I really do find that more than irritating...
