God I miss old school DJ's

Even though we touch on the subject often I can't help to share when I read something about a DJ. These people when they had power to play at times what they wanted was one of the major reasons music was big and artists got discovered. I am reading Peter Criss book and he talks about how Beth became a hit. Gene and Paul made it a B Side of a single. A DJ got a listen to Beth and sent it to another DJ saying to play it as this is a hit. And it struck Gold! The DJ that sent it out to be played....Scott Shannon! This guy is awesome. He also did in the 80's mystery songs one of them turned out to be a big comeback and hit for Donny Osmond. Imagine how great US radio could be if the DJ got to play some of there likes?

There rock station had a dozen or so DJs and they gave one of there early singles to the dJ into prog. What a great way to get music out there.

Only us few that actually HEAR it (just because we still search it out) would still enjoy it. *wink, wink*. T

PS: wonder how many heritage bands we all love around here would be just that today without radio airplay? answer: NONE of them. Go figure..
