Love all their albums but, Heavenly Ecstasy, in my opinion, is by far their most accomplished to date. A little less on the progressive and more on the melodic.

They also have one of the most under-rated guitarists around, in, Jorn Viggo Lofstadt. What a fabulous player. HA but yeah I think certainly the last record was kinda reigned in and think that might have been their intention too (don't quote me however). Shorter songs that at least left less room for progressiveness... God's Equation less so definitely with Heavenly Ecstacy.

Think I'm saying yes, the last couple records were less progressive, but progressive can mean many different things to many different people so not insisting anything, just my take on it! ;)

Yours might be different!?

I haven't bothered with them for a few years now though.
BTW there is a great video bootleg of Jorn backed by the PM band around, with Nils duet-ting on the Hear'N'Aid classic, 'Stars'.

But only the last 2 records Doug!? :(

Ahem, if I may ;) ... I'd argue Celestial Entrance and Enigmatic Calling are as equally strong as the last couple records, maybe even superior (at least on a personal level). Somewhat heavier prog and might take a bit of researching, but anyone who's in tune with the last couple records but not really taken the time to explore the earlier material could be in for a real treat :)

From Celestrial Entrance;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atv-05_aZ48
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35aJW8IW6CY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVlRKtx1V7Q

From Enigmatic Calling;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3tmIi2fnsM (At 1:12min WHOA!)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4qaj6Df9q0

And while perhaps not quite to the standard of these (again personally speaking), their debut record Infinity Divine is indeed a cracker too. That one actually features my personal fave Emracing Fear (re-recorded/released in 2004 prefer the original);

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtBy2QVjZEU&playnext=1&list=PL84413FED77C0F2E2&feature=results_video

Anyway, just throwing it out sharing the love! Tons to be discovered on all PM records and while owning the studio albums for a time now, I find more to like about each with each listen ;) Great live act too \m/
