ELOY !

Saw ELOY yesterday and it was a great almost three-hours show they put on ! 9 people on stage feat. Bodo Schopf (Sweet, MSG, Kingdom and hundreds more...) just a great drummer and finally happy to report from a concert we had an awesome drum sound last night.

From Steve Mann (guitar) himself on his blog: "Last night was the last of the 3 “extra” Eloy shows for January – played to a fantastic audience at the Capitol in Mannheim. I say a “fantastic” audience. Every audience Eloy plays to is fantastic, or rather, special.

.../...

When we are up on the stage, the audience becomes as much a part of the music as we are. There is an indescribable “oneness” which happens between Eloy and its audience at live shows, and in my (long) career it’s a feeling I’ve not had too often! Usually, a band will play TO an audience – Eloy plays WITH an audience."

Since the coverage of ELOY is not so big here (in their home-country) Germany, I wonder how the band is being received in YOUR country ?

Too bad, it's a band that has made quite a number of good albums. Discovered them in 1980 with that years album, Colours. Still my favourite by them. Along with the very first album from '71 which I bought on CD in 1990, gimmick-cover and all.

They were mentioned as fellow German labelmates when I got the debut Lucifer's Friend album back then. BTW--possibly THEE worst band moniker in history-John Lawton's first band,I'm thinking. Anyway--never heard a note by Eloy--or any of the other German bands that were listed on the 'Billingsgate' label (which was apparently a German slang name for 'Ass Kickin'! lol). T
