Problem is it's online too. I just checked our local iTunes for the new Circle II Circle album Seasons Will Fall, and Aus iTunes have it pegged as coming and for a cost of $18.99 WTF!!!!? 12 songs no longer than most albums and they can't tell me it's import prices, it's digital FFS!!!!! Absolutely insane asking near $20 for an album download.

It will be a shame if the name/store does go because of its history, but the big record shop days are over. A competitive, streamlined HMV with a a solid online strategy (rather than an afterthought as present) would be a good thing.

The less competition there is, the quicker those who are competitive now will increase their prices. Never good for the consumer.

One example was when I saw AC/DC's Black Ice on their web site for £8.99. So I asked someone to pick me up a copy in town and when they came back it had a big sticker on it saying £13.99!!
