This is really a reply to Rocknut's post about The Knack being a one hit wonder but I didn't want to muck up my Sammy Johns tribute thread anymore than it already is, so I am posting this separate. First off, "My Sharona" was not their only hit here in the states. "Good Girls Don't" did pretty well also. I own 3 Knack albums and they were a great band in my opinion. I think they should have had more hits. I'd also like to add that I have heard "Good Girls Don't" on several occasions still to this day with the last one being at Kroger playing over the loud speaker about 2 months ago!

There was also a small controversy when this song came out because of the lyrics. First of all I do not think that my opinion is any more important than yours. Nor do I think that Rolling Stones opinion is anymore important than Mutt's.

All I was trying to get across to you was that a thread praising the man after he just died is not the place for any kind of negative comments about his songs. As Gary suggested, I probably should have made two separate threads if some people wanted to debate the validity of the song as being one of the best all time one hit wonders.

Last time I checked, Rolling Stone is STILL the biggest music periodical on the planet. It is read by fans and industry professionals alike. The (laughable) list you referenced appears to be one persons opinion...from a blog. Its so stupid that it included a rather legendary rock band (Thin Lizzy) on the list.

You have a real issue with your opinion being considered fact. Again, I like the song. I grew up listening to it. Its simply NOT one of the best (1 hitters) of all time.
