Re: tunes that begin with a big guitar solo: no mention of...?

Yngwie?!

Guy may be without hope now but in his prime?

Big guitar solo intros? Hot On Your Heels - from the one and only Steeler album. Apparently recorded in one take.

Still love the mad start to Never Die from Seventh Sign. Title track kicks butt too.

Final Curtain from Fire and Ice. Title track too.

I could go on and on! Other suggestions:

End Of The World - Gary Moore (Corridors of Power).

White Knuckles - goes staight into Rockin' Every Night on Gary's G-Force album.

Without Warning - George Lynch's stunning 1'38 solo that leads straight into Tooth & Nail on Dokken's album of the same name.

Dying For Love - Black Sabbath from Cross Purposes. Played this the other day and was reminded how great a song this was from the criminally underrated Tony Martin era. Begins with a lovely bluesy piece.

The Inner Road - Adagio from Sanctus Ignis. Absolutely mad sweep arpeggios. I think. Bloody fast anyhow!

This Planet's On Fire - Sammy Hagar. Dunno if that intro counts as a solo but sounds really cool anyhow!

So many choices :)

I'm not one to call radio stations to ask "hey, who was that you just played?" but I called Z-Rock that morning and found out it was Giant and bought their CD later that day.Kilelr guitar solo intro, killer song, killer CD, killer guitarist/vocalist, killer band.

Paul
