McClain/Shooting Star?

Does anyone have an update on what Van McClain and Shooting Star are up to? I read a couple places online that he was working on a solo CD in 2012, but I never saw it released. I also saw that SS was going to work on a new album, but I can't find any details on that either. Are they still around??? I miss that band!!!

Not bad at all. Stereotypical lyrically, but not real cheesey either. That Keith(?) guy seems to have a decent voice--like a cross between West and Brian Johnson? Or a gruff sounding West, perhaps. Watched a bit of a live dvd they did with him from somewhere in the midwest.Looked like a packed theater style show,so I guess it's true they were/are huge out that way. That singer wasn't much of a showman at all, tho. I did sorta like his 'half mic stand' approach, tho. I may use that on occasion as I never use a stand during our shows. I'm reminded now of a few SS tunes we did back when they were new. These were what we covered: Breakout,Straight Ahead, and one of the rockers from III Wishes (end of side A,I'm thinking?). Needless to say--they never got enough attention on radio here in WNY,so people looked at us sort of clueless, and we didn't keep their tunes on the playlist very long. Always dug the band but I think their essential albums were the debut (GREAT!!) and the last one with West-Silent Scream. need to dig those out soon for a re-listen as it's been quite a long time...T

I almost gave up on them after that one (though it wasn't bad, just not as good as previous), but the next two got much better and I agree with Niv that you're "missing out" on those.
