Peter Dogett's There's A Riot Going On is an interesting look at the (supposedly) revolutionary bands of the 60s. Charles Shaar Murrays Crosstown Traffic is also intersting - mainly a Hendrix biography but tries to put him into context.

Just finished Andy Kershaws book (No Off Switch): funny and honest account of his rise from dealing with the likes of Bob Geldoff and painting the Rolling Stones fence to fellow Radio 1 DJs and bosses, then onto finding music and reporting from far flung places.

Re: Book recommendations

Martin Popoff and Ioannis (album cover artists) have a new book out called "Fade To Black", which is a collection of classic Hard Rock album art cover, superb stuff!

Any of Martin's books, esp, the UFO, Rainbow, Dio and Thin Lizzy ones are excellent. And an Irish author called Alan Byrne has just written "Philip Lynott - Renegade of Thin Lizzy", which is an excellent look at Phil's life, a bit different from the usual Lizzy bios -it looks at the pressure that Phil was under as the main songwriter for Lizzy and also for his solo albums, and how that affected him.

Also Martin Turner (Wishbone Ash founder) has a book out called No Easy Road, which is a great read - talks about being a working musician from the 60s through to today, lots of great stories about touring and gigging with ZZ Top, Aerosmith, Joe Walsh, the Who, etc
