Ive mentioned my old band Empyre a few times and the other day Mike the lead guitarist sent me some old demo's (from the early 90's). Unfortunately the ones he sent weren't the ones with me singing on BUT there were two songs I was heavily involved in the writing of (Fall Of Night and Tale of One City). The melody and the lyrics on that song were all my doing mate (it was also only the second song we had written). My vocals were very different though. I sang it really 'gritty' almost angrily although the 'chorus' sections were more pretty much clean and melodic. I know Mike has the original version unfortunately its the master tape and he doesnt have a reel to reel. Incidentally the original version was recorded 'live' in the studio with no overdubs and we did it second take. Still proud of that LOL

I wanted to post them because I thought the band had some promise....even without me in the band LOL.

We/They were all in our early to mid 20's when we came up with these songs. As for the Geddy Lee comments...could be right considering the one influence that linked us all was Rush.

Mike has also sent me some better quality demos of the pop/rock project he was in post Empyre and those are much better quality.

Its funny you mention the singer because I was a little suprised when I heard the songs. I dont remember him sounding so 'chipmunkish'. I used to sing in a lower more blues influenced register, maybe thats why it surprised me a bit.
