<title>Re: Harem Scarem Re-Recording Mood Swings.</title><link>http://www.melodicrock.com/phorum52/read.php?1,922366,922858#msg-922858</link><description><![CDATA[ Absolutely chuffed that they're recordings 3 new tunes in the 'Mood Swings' vein to add to the rerecords of the original CD and as Bruce says the best thing of all is that the whole thing has got the band pumped up to get out there live again, celebrate the 20 years anniversary of 'Mood Swings' and particularly ecstatic they've agreed to play the whole of 'Mood Swings' at Firefest 2013 (whether rerecording the album was part of that decisions or not!).<br /><br />Should be a great celebration of an immensely classic album and great to have this superb band back recording and performing again.<br /><br />This is all good news people!!!]]></description>

It's about ownership. Fair play to them. I personally think it could be a good idea as Harry's voice hasn't deteriorated at all.<br /><br />Personally I like the songs on MS but think the production is a bit grungy and muddy (it was '93, Nirvana etc) so think this could be a good idea.<br /><br />Harry's voice is still as strong as it was 20 years ago. We don't own the masters to those recordings, we don't own anything that we recorded while we were with Warner, the only way for us to have ownership and control over those songs is to re record them. That being said we also feel that the new recordings will sonically be much better than the originals side by side.<br />Also to add value to the release we are recording 3 new bonus tracks as well as a DVD with recording footage and interactive audio... This is a package ( and tour ) to celebrate the 20th year anniversary of the release not just another version of what is already available.]]></description>

Sonically it's very dated. I don't listen to it much myself anymore. A new version with Modern Production will get lots of airplay to me.<br /><br />To me this is a win-win. For some fans who don't care and think it's a classic and shouldn't be messed with...well you still have that classic in your collection and you can enjoy it. For those who want improved vocals, better production and updated recordings we can enjoy this one. Then the band gets their masters for the &quot;new&quot; old tunes so they're happy.
