More Blurays

With piracy running wild in the CD world and music being downloaded to crappy MP3 why don't bands release thier albums on Bluray where you could have the album in full 7.1 DTS MA sound, HD video clips and a HD video of the band playing the full album live in studio in HD sound as well.
Quality Home theatre systems are very common now so this would bring the music back into lounge rooms and played at the highest quality.

Home Cinema systems may be quite common these days, but most people who have them use an 'All In One' system that uses satellite speakers. That's the set-up I have. Mine is a decent quality Samsung system, but the speakers can't compete with my large Hi-Fi speakers. Also, Blu-Ray Home Cinema systems are not that common yet, and 7.1 systems even less common. Most people just don't really care about having the best quality available, that's why movie streaming services like Netflix and Lovefilm are becoming more and more popular. People seem to be quite happy with streaming quality that is generally of a sub-Dvd quality. Even the full HD streams that are available, they only come with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. I have the Slipknot {sic}nesses Blu-Ray, which is their headline performance at Download 2009. I also have the live CD of the same performance, and while the DTS HD Master Audio Blu-Ray does sound great, I still prefer the sound from the stereo Live CD through my Hi-Fi.

The people who listen to the kind of music that this site deals in are the type of people who still want to own their favourite music on a physical format. They may download a pre-release mp3 leak out of curiosity, but they will still buy the official CD when it's released. There are just too few fans left to give even the best of releases a significant amount of sales. Every genre and sub genre of music is saturated to the max, and that is a much bigger problem than illegal downloading, especially with the world economy being fucked and the consumer having a lot less disposable income.
