A&M influenced the sound of the day (Bon Jovi) for the Blood From Stonealbum, but I enjoy it immensely. Calm Before the Storm was instantly forgettable but Belief was a real cracker with lots of Marillion and Pink Floyd influences. Beneath the Shining Water was a good follow up to Belief. Then the re-recorded Calm Before The Storm 2 was the follow up that Out of The Silence Deserved.

Only my opinion ..... in summary, there are no really bad Dare records.

The songs are generally excellent and the performances good. I will often put a Dare playlist on when I'm on holiday chilling by the pool. Same with latter day Mark Spiro and stuff like LA Cowboys that I would never listen too that much otherwise but is great for occasions such as that.

My wife and I even had it as birthing music for our 2nd boy (she claims it didn't help that much)!

But if you are in chill out mood and have a large glass of red handy, Dare are excellent. Just don't expect to start a party with them as the soundtrack.

Jay
