Free copy of Jimi Jamison's new album!!

I bought this on the strength of Andrew's review. No offense or controversy intended, but it is 100% bland as far as I am concerned so would be happy to send it on to someone who may appreciate it.

Just email me [ illimey@yahoo.com ]

Why? Because they both sound like Erik Martesson albums with hired-hand vocalists rather than actual solo work of the artists name that is emblazoned on the cover. Why? Because that's exactly what they are.
Which is fine and dandy if you love everything that Erik Martesson does without a second thought... but if you can't stand it, then you've got a voice you love, singing music you don't :-(
Niv

Lynch Mob, Mr Big, Night Ranger, Journey etc..they all sound like the band, and not always as expected! Why, perhaps because the FRONTIERS people aren't 100% moulding the end product!

Its the projects, these records where FRONTIERS employe the current in-house or preferred team, write, record, produce and mix..give prepared lyrics to a singer that sometimes seem to morph into each other.

I agree, some JJ is better than none, and this record is 70% good for me. Like others have said though..I sometimes feel a little more time/quality control would yield better and individual sounding results.

You can have too much of a good thing..remember, its what killed the whole 80's thing by the start of the 90's! Too much of it, too many chasing the same look and sound.

But some quality control wouldn't go amiss....and, as stated, everything is starting to sound the same but with a different voice on top. Hence the comparison.

Signing every band that used to be almost popular in the 80's doesn't mean you'll get a cracking album every time.
Lived with JAMISON's record....

.after two weeks, hmmmm. Its a good record, there are some good songs on it, but some so-so's where Martensson has tried to hard to cop what Peterick/Survivor did. Street Survivors for example...

The audio mix in places is lacking punch, the drums seems almost timid. In places its squeezed/compressed to death. Toby's record has the same issue in places.

For me, there's about 6-7 really good songs on it, so i'll give it a 7.5/10 (75%) which by most scoring standards equals a good score. Is it a 100% absolute stunning classic to rank amongst the finest in the genre..no.

I can't help but feel..and this has happened before with FRONTIERS "projects"..whilst they deliver some good songs, the "team" behind these records is making everything sound the same. Sure..the voice obviously stamps the greatest identity, but overall, things are starting to blur again and its getting very production-line like,

I basically agree, everything Erik Martensson writes does abslutely nothing for me. Bores me to tears. The same applies to other recent new AOR bands like The Magnificant. At the same time, I absolutely love the first Lionville disc and can't wait for the second one. One could argue it's just as contrived as Erik's work, yet for some strange reason it works for me.
