The Darkness-Hot Cakes!!

I know this cd has been discussed here when it was released. And some here hate the band and/or Hawkin's voice. Well..I just heard the entire cd over at y-tube,and to me,this is thee best thing they've done yet! Every track on it shines! Even the bonus tracks are very cool (tho I may not end up with that edition). i'm guessing the Radiohead cover is MILES ahead of the original version. If this band was out in the 70's,they'd have been conquoring heroes, hands down. sure-Hawkins' high falsetto gymnastics could be a turn off,but he seems to have them more 'controlled' on hot Cakes. And--what a killer voice this guy has! I even checked out some live footage and they sounded great--even the harmonies. They're like a cross between Queen and AC/DC live--with two lead guitarists. Hot Cakes is in my Top 5 for 2012. Love their crossover brand of rock, and no other band right now is doing what they are. GREAT album and welcome return! However, as far as performances go, the 2011 shows are definitely up there, particularly the gig at Sheffield O2 (which I think Justin referenced on FB). But as singers...let's just say I can admire JH's voice much more than Axel's. Even if I didn't prefer what The Darkness is about,I still have to say he (Hawkins) has the better voice,quality-wise. I like a few GnR tunes despite Rose's whine. But I like/can listen to most of what The Darkness has recorded. It's not 'rubbish', OR 'dreadful' by a long shot. You can't deny the guitar stylings--very solid AND melodic playing for their songs. jUst not for everyone. But then..what is? T
