I heard from a friend that Frontiers are planning a festival in Germany for April next year. It's going to be a frontiers band only bill and has some exciting bands if the gossip is to be believed. Europe, about 2 weeks ago in Mannheim, had a crowd of about 300 I guess. VERY disappointing.

And the Z Rock festival in Mannheim, in 2000, with Jaded Heart, Von Groove, Enuff Z'Nuff, Tygers of Pan Tang... you'd guess how many? That was an overall crowd of even less. Maybe 200.

I cannot image festivals like that in Germany even manage to cover the costs. Tough if you play what "the kids" deem as soft rock. I think these rumours are in part stemming from a recent interview with Jim Peterik who hinted Pride Of Lions maybe touring with other Frontiers artists early next year. Surprised POL didn't end up on the HRH AOR bill.

I've never been to any of the recent melodic rock festivals in Germany but i had taken it for granted that they usually do well by current melodic rock standards!

I suppose a lot does depend on who they get to play it and with costs of travel ect... a one-off festival would perhaps be more finacially viable for the organisers as opposed to taking a few bands to 3-4 country's in europe for multiple gigs...

My guess at a couple of bands would be Hardline & Issa....

shame these guys won't be playing the UK, but a festival in Germany makes good sense as their is a good size fanbase there!
