Listened to it once.....suitably impressed but it's missing the usual one or two killers.

A nice mix of 70's vibe and 80's sound and Gene's songs are nowhere near as far off the pace as usual. In fact they're much better than usual and we're missing a big one from Paul.

Take ME Down Below (Gene and Paul) is possibly my favourite for now but that could change.

A few of the songs , if released back in the day , would probably be considered classics but now these sort of basic songs (I'm thinking something like Back To The Stone Age is like a modern 2000 Man) ....it's not quite so impressive.

Serviceable effort and much better than most others their age who've given it a try. Given KISS's catalogue there'd be nothing easier than just sitting back and touring , so I admire them for keeping the new music coming at a good standard.

haha - I like Revenge (although it hasn't dated well IMO).

COS should think itself lucky I graced it with a nice position on my bar as a coaster.

I intended to say that I like the non make up era Kiss better than their earlier stuff with makeup. I saw them live once on one of their "farewell" tours, and wasn't terribly impressed. I do consider myself a fan just not a fanatic.

I picked it up this morning, and I have to say that I like it a lot. I find the songs catchier than those on 'Sonic Boom'. How it compares to 'Creatures of the Night', I couldn't really say. 'Creatures' isn't one of my favorite KISS albums. And as for the comments ridiculing the lyrics...would anyone expect anything more from KISS after all these years?! No lyric is too juvenile for KISS. I never pay attention to what they're saying until they reach the chorus anyway. LOL

I'm enjoying it more than alot of their post Animalize output. The only track I'm not liking is the Eric Singer sung track All For The Love... Very 70s KISS.

Awful lyrics. My 9 year old could rhyme better.

Won't be listening again.

Best run of Kiss albums for me were Animalise to Hot in the Shade. I like the no make up days.

It's "classic Kiss", but hardly a classic. It's very similar to Sonic Boom in many ways. Modern production, very 70's vibe, cheesy lyrics. Some of the anthems are great, others not so much.

Just like SB, I like it just fine, but won't be revisiting it all too much.

My intial view is it's utter crap. I loved 'Sonic boom' but on this new one they have dispensed with melody in favour of aggression.

Just listening to this one on Spotify now and it sounds absolutely superb. That's always a slight worry as those are usually the ones that fade fastest, but on this listen it's a seriously rocking beast of a record. Will definitely invest. Anyone know if they'll be touring the UK as I've never seen them live and I seem to be compiling a list of bands I need to see before they, or me, die?

I suppose I am not the average Kiss fan. I have always liked their music that they made w/o music better than their earlier stuff. Revenge isprobably my favorite. Haven't heard Monster yet, but I am looking forward to it.

I liked Sonic Boom,but this is way beyond that.Can't see where it's muddy.The production is great.I also don't see it as being rushed.Kiss have had their ups and downs,at the moment they are back on top of their game. I Wish I had the cash for SRF 2013,it will be one hell of a gig.

I have it but haven't found time to listen as yet. I like the sound of some of the comments above as songs like Danger are some of my favourites.

I like it well enough. I liked Sonic Boom, too.....but Monster is their best since Creatures... for me, anyway. It flows and sounds great.

As record, it flows and is sequenced almost perfectly. Something a lot of the "project" records need to look at at. Agree..its got something of a CREATURES vibe in places..songs like RNR HELL wouldn't be out of place, maybe even DANGER.

Really are quite surprised.

In MONSTER...KISS have made an excellent record. They sound like they just wanted to make a good rock record, not chase anything in their past in particular. Obviously, it sounds like KISS...but I hear all manner of of elements, and a audio mix that has a little more bombast like CREATURES. Nice blend of old and new. Some tracks even have a WHO-ish vibe in places (not the whole song per se..just some chord passages). Way better than SONIC BOOM.

KISS will never please everyone, longevity and different era's etc, different fans want different things. Forgetting all that, its simply a great rock record..i'm well surprised!

I dislike Kiss a lot, but I actually enjoyed Monster.
