DARE story....

I popped into a book shop on the High Street on saturday, and there's a new book out called"The Wonder of Brian Cox: The Unauthorised Biography of the Man Who Brought Science to the Nation" (phew!)

Anyway, there's a nicely detailed chapter on Dare, from Darren forming the band, up to the break-up after "Blood From A Stone". The book states that Darren considered the band to really be himself, Vinny and Brian (and there were a few lineup changes in drums/ bass), and I liked the line that Brian, as a teenager, used to drive around Oldham with the "Top Gun" soundtrack blaring out the car. Didn't we all?

Re: DARE story....

Brian wasn't even there when me and Daz had a disagreement. He was in bed. There was Darren, Greg, Nige, our manager Keith, our tour manager Drac and maybe one or two crew.
Brian also didn't play keyboards on any of the Dare albums or singles. He did a lot of programming for us prior to starting both albums though. Darren, Brian and me used to do a 9-5, Monday to Friday in the studio.
Darren is such an amazing player, it would be pointless to have anyone else play his keyboard parts.
Brian did come to LA but that was just to hang out. Not saying any of this out of malice or to lessen his role in the band. Brian and me are still good friends, just sick of seeing so much misinformation about Dare.
This author pestered me for info on Brian. I called Bri to warn him. We were going to make a load of old shit up between us but decided in the end not to give him any info at all. It's not like Brian is going to see a penny from any of this.
I don't think anyone actually close to or having anything do with the band even spoke to this guy.
He must have scoured the web looking for quotes from all of us from Facebook, guitar websites and old interviews.
While we are at it, no one made us go heavier on Blood From Stone. It was purely a band decision and had nothing to do with record company or management pressure. Just another myth I keep reading :-)
