Question for Andrew about reviews (MP3 or CD?)

Hi Andrew and Everyone,

My favorite album of the year by far is an album not mentioned on this site. It's John Eddie "Same Old Brand New Me".

For those interested:
johneddie.com
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6Xt5fjDJKs

I bought the physical CD and listened to it once, then put it in the ipod. I listened to the actual CD again the other day and was just blown away at how much fuller and richer it sounded. Not just coming through tiny little ear buds but though actual wooden speakers filling up the room! It made a great album all that much better.

So my question for Andrew specifically is....do you listen to the cd's and/or mp3's through computer speakers or headphones? Do you drive around listening in your car? Or actual stereo speakers? I believe this truly changes the listening experience. In fact, I feel funny even putting Springsteen or Mellencamp on the ipod after listening to those songs on the stereo and radio all those years!

What about everyone else? Do you agree or disagree with any of this? It's particularly important for the albums from bands/singers that do not tour often.

It really opened my ears and eyes to a lot of stuff and vice versa, I'm afraid. The sad part is that I've grown more and more fastidious about productions/sound.

I've never had a high end stereo and I've never gave it much thought. Nowadays I can definitely consider buying more expensive stuff.

My headphones are midprice Philips and they work great, the computer speakers are a 2.1 Logitech Z4 and they do the work just fine . . . but there is such a difference when I put an album on at my 2 channel stereo. The fullness and life it brings to the music, the depth, placing of instuments/musicians . . . a total landscape of music is brought to life with the right production.

Figge
