NIGHTWISH and Anette Olzon have decided to part company Another chapter of the NIGHTWISH story has ended today. NIGHTWISH and Anette Olzon have decided to part company, in mutual understanding, for the good of all parties involved. In recent times it has become increasingly obvious that the direction and the needs of the band were in conflict, and this has led to a division from which we cannot recover. NIGHTWISH has no intention of cancelling any upcoming shows, and as a result we have decided to bring in a substitute vocalist starting in Seattle 1.10.2012. Her name is Floor Jansen from the Netherlands (ex-AFTER FOREVER, REVAMP), and she has graciously stepped in to help us complete the ”Imaginaerum” world tour. We are all strongly committed to this journey, this vehicle of spirit, and we are sure that this will lead to a brighter future for everyone. We forever remain excited about the adventures to come, and we are extremely proud of the two beautiful albums and the wonderful shows we shared together. I enjoyed the gig, the new album stuff come across very well and I think anyone going to the UK leg of the tour will enjoy. Tarja to return? Don't write anything off, time heals a lot of wounds and...money speaks...BIG time! That said, Floor jansen is a killer choice and would have been the ideal replacement for Tarja first time round (although I still think Thuomas would have preferred Charly from Delain).

Imaginarium has its moments but as a whole, is a shadow of DPP.


Nightwish with Tarja is very polarised. I adore about 4 tracks with her but the rest..Not so much.

The show must go on- indeed I applaud their efforts to play, particularly the new singers'- but do so with class. You reap what you sow.

Of course, this was probably just the tip of the iceberg. I hope everyone lands on their feet and learns from their scars. and dissapointed and inconvenienced thousands of fans. I wish more bands would do this rather than taking the easy way out. In saying that the communication between band members should be spot on and decision unanimously agreed.

Sure...and pissed off a lot of people that already paid for their tickets and were waiting.

It may have been different if there was a day or two warning but I think the band made a decision....the show must go on.

What would have pissed off the most people...cancelling at the last minute or plodding on with replacement singers?

Loved Nightwish with Tarja. Also loved them with Anette (DPP is my favorite overall NW disc), though the new one is just OK. Floor would be fantastic as well, I think.

It will definitely be interesting to see how this affects (1) the movie & (2) the future direction of the band.
