All that said, I do wish HRH AOR well simply because as a fan of this music, I'd love to see it's profile raised even further.

I don't envisage any major problems between both events other than everyone's own financial restraints. Firefest though has a huge, loyal following and I'm sure as long as Kieran and the guys keep working their magic, I'll be there.

It feels like a very inclusive festival which is why I don't think you will suffer.

Now, if you can just make sure Danger Danger play 'Under the Gun' next month that would be great!!!!

Seriously though - I think HRH is still a very English thing whereas FF has crossed over to the Euro market. I enjoy going to Nottingham once a year and being in a crowd of 25 year old Spanish and Italian women. Firefest will continue to bring 'name' acts from the genre along with one or two that you perhaps would not expect , but at all times staying within our melodic hard rock genre......as long as we continue to receive the amazing support that we do (mind you we have worked extremely hard to EARN the TRUST and respect of the people who buy tickets over the last nine years and I think Firefest and the atttendees enjoy a VERY SPECIAL relationship with each other that no other festival enjoys -THANKS GUYS) Time will tell if both FF and HRH will either complimet or hinder each other .....

I think there is room for two such events and 6 months apart is ideal. I appreciate that not everyone can afford to attend both but I suspect many (at least from the UK) will. I suspect if you have to decide for only 1, then many factors will come into play besides the lineups, both events have become much more than festivals - loyalties and friendships etc..

I am a FF regular but am attending HRH for the first time this year, partly due to one of the FF organisers telling me how good HRH is.

I don't think FF has any need to worry, i don't think the fans are as fickle as you worry about James. If people can only afford one i think it's VERY obvious what they will choose. FF have no need to change and i don't see why another similar themed event would push them to be different...

With VEGA been a UK band James, i'm sure they could still play FF, in fact i'd be shocked if they aren't appraoched by the FF team. I know most FF bands are tied to exclusives, but this is only really for foreign bands.

I don't know where this rivarly thing has come from? Is it happening behind the scenes? am i that dumb i'm oblivious to it?

I've also heard people have been slating Firefest - but i can't find a single thing ANYWHERE that shows anyone slagging off FF.

The only thing i've seen is one person saying that Firefest tickets are expensive! WTF! i think we can all have a laugh about that, I don't know what gigs he's going too if he thinks FF is expensive for what you get! but thats ONE person?!

I don't think people should fuel the flames of discontent - You don't wanna go to HRH AOR or can't afford to do both? then just ignore it, why worry about it?

They have pinched a lot of 'your bands' : I was hoping VEGA might be at FF next year although I'm glad they didn't get Eclipse, HEAT, Jimi J / Survivor etc

There were lots of complaints from his fans - ive copied a couple of posts from another forum below. These were typical of the complaints given at the time. (spelling/grammar mistakes arent mine - just copied them as is lol). Stressing the views arent mine as i've never been but there were too many at the time on multiple sites for my liking..

He issued a statement shortly after (which I cant find at this moment) saying words to effect of that he valued his fans input and cares about his fans etc etc and for that reason he will never play there again.

Chances are the venue has learnt from the problems and there wont be any this time but it just puts a doubt in my mind..

"I went to see Joe bonnomassa last night. Even though he played wonderfully I didn't enjoy the gig. It was badly set out, took half an hour to get into the venue then we had to join another que to get into the audatorium! This que also took half an hour to get through. Not only that the corridoor was long and thin and the only had two tiny dors open for thousendsof people! The security were clueless! The venue was long and thin and moveing through the crowd was imposaable. We allmost didn't make it to the wheelchair platform. For the first time ever I didn't mind leaveing early as my dad over heard a security guard say they planned to "kettle" us on the platform while the main crowd left. Hopefully no other bands ar book on this so called "venue".

Same as you mate, Joe Bonamassa was amazing but the venue was terrible. As well as the problems you mention with access and egress, they stopped us at the roundabout and said the car park was full. We had to walk 3/4 mile in which we weren't happy with as our friend has a bad back. When we got there, there were plenty of parking spaces, as we got to the building, they started letting cars in again. The security guys were just a joke. Once we were inside, the auditorium was terrible. I'm 5'11" and couldn't see a thing as the stage was too low and there's no natural slope, so my wife who's 5'2" didn't stand a chance. Why the hell he didn't play Sheffield City Hall which is a far better venue is beyond me.

Obviously great to have lots of events to choose from but I can't help feel that this leans towards market saturation which for this genre, could actually do more harm than good.
