Pride of Lions - Immortal

Hey, new album arrived yesterday and just working my way through it.

It doesn't surprise me that some people don't like 'Delusional' - it's cheesy as all hell... but I LOVE it! :-) Peterik through and through! Positive, uplifting, driving and motivational. The video's a little toe-curling in places, but I guess you gotta go with it! (If you're gonna do cheese, you might as well do uber-cheese and it conveys the message of the song!) :-)

It's one of those "instant repeat" tracks for me. (I await the flaming! ;-) )

Looking forward to the rest of the album! Getting massive Survivor-chills already from the first three tracks.

With his back catalog of great songs to use as promo from Survivor,38 Special, etc. aND still being tight with JJ or even going out with PoL,can't see why he/they couldn't do at least a casino type tour. Maybe even couple it with another mid-popular act from the 80's. But if he's saying he wants to tour...we'll have to wait & see. I still have my doubts tho..T

But the Frontiers web site led you to believe there was a big event planned in the Chicago area at the end of September to coincide with the CD release. Instead, if that's the one they were referring to, it was a tiny show in a little theatre three weeks before the album came out. I know Peterik said they were going to hit the road with this CD so I was expecting something a little more pronounced than that. I'm not sure I would call playing a couple songs in a small venue in Joliet a few weeks before the CD release much of a tour! I'm sure they can do better than that.

As expected, great stuff. The writing is top notch and Hitchcock's voice is simply amazing. I don't think there's a weak song on the album, from start to finish. My only disappointment is that they announced they would play a concert with Styx at the end of September and that never happened. Maybe it'll still happen in the near future -- I'm looking for it!

I can be quite a cynical person sometimes, but there's no denying the heartfelt message behind the song, even if it might appear saccharine to some people. It's not 'current', it's not 'hip', it's not fashionably cynical... but isn't that the whole point of this song? My taste in music has NEVER been fashionable! I was always a decade too late!

Don't get me wrong, it's right at the far edge of my cheese-tolerance levels, but I still love it! Was laughing at the sheer over-the-topness and hookiness of the chorus when it hit! I think it either puts you off and you disengage, or you go "Ha! Yeah - that's Jim Peterik alright! Fantastic!" and roll with it!

It's given me a huge dopey grin on my face! Survivor were always my favourite melodic rock band and Peterik is one of my "try to collect everything" songwriters, so of course I'm gonna like this! That chorus is HUGE!

Suspend your disbelief, people! Go with it! :-D

(Off to listen to my Broadway musical collection right before I go to my Glee club... ;-) ) :-P

- Danny.
