Damn! Bought this a little while ago and what a farking classy slab of MR this release is! WE COLLIDE, BULLET, AMERICAN DREAM and the Title Track make for a hit heavy side one (fer us old schoolers out there ;) thankfully there's plenty more most of note LAST SUNRISE has a Lynch Mob kinda swagger about it and END OF DAYS is a great and perfect closer! Anyway, there's a nice old school MR loyalty about this one and just like last years Reece/Kronlund, SAVE TOMORROW manages to effortlessly bridge the years between current MR and the classic MR period of yesteryear! "End of Days" is a song I wrote for my wife. I actually wrote another really fun pop rock song for her as well which was very Rick Springfield that I didn't finish in time for the CD. That one will have to wait for the next CD. Anyway, I wrote the lyrics for the chorus for "End of Days" when my wife and I were flying somewhere. The idea just popped into my head so I jotted it down. I ended up writing the rest of the lyrics a few months later in about an hour. Some songs are a struggle while others come more quickly. That song came in spurts both musically and lyrically but when the inspiration struck, all of the pieces came together perfectly. I'm glad you like the song. It's one of my favorites on the CD and I think it's one of the best I have ever written.

I prefer Shinedown's first couple releases a little too ballad heavy now but no disputing the guy/s a talent, and no argument re Alter Bridge can't say enough about them! Heavy for me are the likes of Paradise Lost (great current album) and the likes of Nevermore / Warrel Dane to name the first to come to mind. Pretty broad rock tastes these days but still love me some dragon's when the mood is right and of course never a dull moment to be had when cranking Maiden Priest and all those top nuts, but still love me some good ole Ozzy rock (as in down under Cold Chisel Noiseworks Powderfinger and Choirboys baby) oh and hey love the new Cult and Lillian Axe (on a roll might quit now ;)

Suffice to say while I forgive you for the lyrical shenanigans of AMERICAN DREAM LOL (can't help but love me the tune regardless), rest assured END OF DAYS has well and truly nudged its way into this years top10 tunes fer these old ears! I'm a really upbeat person so I can write music for songs like "Save Tomorrow" and "I'd Do Anything" very easily. On the flip side, upbeat pop rock songs are harder to write good lyrics for. It's vastly easier to write lyrics for heavier music since heavy music doesn't lend itself to cheese unless you're always singing about dragons. :) I push myself more artistically as a guitarist on the heavier songs like "We Collide" since they lend themselves to more intense guitar playing. Rick really excels on the heavier tunes because that is what he loves so that pushes me a bit to maximize his potential. We recorded one song that was quite heavy that we never shared with the record company that might be on the next CD (our wives loved the song since they both like really heavy music). On the flip side, we left off a beautiful slow bluesy ballad in 6/8 time that was a really good song that the record company heard and loved. That will be on the next Bonrud CD for sure. So we recorded a pretty broad range of material for this CD and in the end, we chose these tracks as the most cohesive representation.

For modern music these days, I love Shinedown, Alter Bridge, Halestorm, and Daughtry. Alter Bridge in particular really speaks to me. Those guys rule.:)

I have to admit to having not read the Catwoman titles you refer to but I will certainly hunt a TPB down if there's one about, if cover art for Save Tomorrow is anything to go by ;)

Always drawn to good art I'm a huge fan of cartoon strips and daily's too so I've found my taste in comic books veered more toward the Humberto Ramos' of the world (own most his work on Spidey and many trades) just love that whacky style and there's a few others similar nowadays too... Back in the day though was of course big on the McFarlane era of Spidey and love the work of the Kuberts, Pacheco who comes a very close second to John Byrne in his presentation of Superman (I see a touch of Byrne in Melo's art!?) and was always a fan of Conan and on that note a huge shout out to the Cary Nord drawn issues of Dark Horses' Conan a few years ago he managed to bring a beauty to Conan not seen since those early 80's issues... Miller Daredevil, Batman's and Year 1's and all that jazz... Great times ;)

Interestingly while I now dig your cover art I gotta say my tastes these days normally sway toward more darker perhaps heavier music and cover art, but just thinking outside the box here for a bit, I actually think a darker cover art by Melo might also have worked for Save Tomorrow!? And again that's a positive. While most your lyrics are classic MR I hear some dark undertones in the music so I'm guessing that's also a drawcard fer my ears (is it fair for me to say too some of these tunes have me headbanging in a similar way that I did with the first Leverage album... Maybe just me?)...

Wardy, are you a comic book collector too? I have about 1500 comics in one of my closets. I still buy a few every month and I love getting the older cool stuff. My faves are Spiderman, X-Men, and Iron Man. I actually found Adriana's artwork when I was reading a Ms. Marvel comic book a few years ago. All of a sudden the artwork drastically improved over the previous issue so I had to check out who the artist was and from then on, I was hooked on Adriana's work. When I was ten years old, I either wanted to grow up to be a professional football player (NFL) or I wanted to be a comic book artist. LOL!!! :)

I hear ya on the price. That's why I'm selling the CD through the www.bonrud.com website for $10 including shipping for US fans. I really like the $10 price point for CD's myself. Escape Music owns the European Territory and Rubicon Music owns Japan. I can sell to all other regions but I still have to figure out the shipping.
