Wasnt too keen on the chorus, but the mood it sets is something else....

Didnt like you anyway is a good one as well, there are lots of tiny classic magnum moments on there, but as i wrote in the thread above, somethings kinda missing for.....But it doesnt matter, since its really high quality material......

It is a cool contrast to the verses, and especially the last chorus with the added keys and guitar is quite awesome.

Didn't even look away, when they placed a dead bouquet
On the grave of charity, with a veil of apathy...

From Within is one of my favourites but the opener still hasn't quite clicked.

Only part of the new album I'm still struggling with a bit is the chorus of Didn't Like You Anyway - I think its because I like the verse so much I needed an enormous chorus to follow it and it falls a tiny bit short for me.

Downtuning some of the songs live gives Uncle Bob a little space.

And yeah, Dance is a great song but my favourites at this point in time are Blood Red Laughter, Putting Things In Place, See How They Fall and Didn't Like You Anyway.

Other tracks that are growing are From Within (love the harmony vocals) and the title track.

Well there's a hundred million souls, all looking for redemption
But most of them are diggin' holes, to bury their intentions...

One of my faves of the album. Agree with Kevin, could very well have been the opening track instead of All The Dreamers (which I like but not as an album opener).

I only wish the chorus on See How They Fall would be even bigger with more background vocals. Would've been immense.

Figge

His low range has gotten a bit rough at times (see the opening lines of So Let It Rain), but the upper range sounds as good as ever. Rather odd, as most people lose the upper range.

Still, it's possible that Magnum is doing things different than most bands. Wild Angels was downtuned when they did it live--and that's not all that high. I'm wondering if they are writing/recording in the old keys, then lowering everything live so that Bob's voice isn't taxed as much while on tour. I've never heard of anyone down-tuning the new material, but it's an interesting way of doing things. That way, if you listen to the cd, it sounds like nothing has really changed, but you are preserving the voice for the live shows.
Kevin
