There are reasons and excuses aplenty if you look for them mate but I cant really argue with your overall assessment. This does however stem back further than appointing Dalglish or even the utterly woeful Hodgson (I find it amusing that fans of other teams give us stick for wanting him out). The rot set in under Rafa, when the two thieving cowboys started asset stripping the club, player by player.

I could go on and on BUT thats old ground well trodden. Dont want AVB, that would be a massive mistake. We need a strong manager who wont take any shit from the players, who is also a proven winner, end of story.

Anyone who thinks that Liverpool will be challenging for the title in the next year or two though had better wake up and accept that ONCE again we are building from scratch.

Basically , as an Evertyon fan, I saw Liverpool's problem as them being a 'team' of 3 players. Reina, Gerrard and Suarez [possibly also Jose Enrique, although he can be suspect]. Gerrard was injured, Reina's form dipped dramatically and, consequently, so did the clubs.

But those 3 players are the true world class performers at the club. I also think that playing Kuyt less this season also affected the club's form. Henderson, Shelvey, Downing, Carroll, Skrtel, Agger etc, etc all flatter to decieve. Good squad players, but that's all. Charlie Adam is/was a total disaster, which surprised me. I suppose sometimes it's better to be a bigger fish in a small pond. Put with better overall players Adam was pedestrian.

Bad signings, loss of goalkeeper form and key injuries affected the form of the club and it never really recovered [although, annoyingly, playing Everton always brings out the best in the club!].

But I think Dalglish was the wrong appointment, they needed someone with real ability to replace Roy Hodgson. Dalglish was damage limitation, and it backfired.

THIS!!!...Ive had quite abit of'banter' from friends claiming we are ona slippery slope BUT the fact of the matter is that especially in the first two thirds of the season we played some fantastic stuff and have been diabolically unlucky in front of goal (okay some poor finishing didnt help but hitting the woodwork 30 times in a season???). The signs were there at the end of the season that some of the new players were starting to settle.

Problem is now, a new man will come in, some players will leave, some will come in and the whole 'rebuilding' starts again.

Whoever FSG bring in now has to be brought in long term, so a serious top class manager is required.

If the likes of Martinez come in I will gladly take the derision from supporters of other clubs, because with the greatest of respect to Martinez and the ilk, that just sends outt eh wrong message.

I think it's at least 8 months too soon and not one of the candidates makes me feel optimistic especially Martinez who, at best, had a good 6 weeks!!

I've just seen Dalglish saying he wouldn't swap the Carling Cup win for anything but that win was almost a colossal embarassment for Liverpool. Had Cardiff held their bottle during the shoot out, or Kenny Miller taken his late chance, it would have been an unmitigated disaster. To say they stuttered to that win would be a monolithic understatement. Plus the way they celebrated was cringewrothy. They should have been ashamed they had to just squeeze through on penalties against such poor opposition. However, had that been the stepping stone for greater things I think it wouldn't have mattered. I guess the woeful league form from that point onwards has been the straw that broke the camel's back. Still never nice to see someone go after one season as sometimes it can take a while to break new players in. From watching Sky Sports Liverpool fans seem to have mixed views - some recognising it was time for a change whilst others are furious. The problem is if the new man comes in and fails will the old chants of 'Dalglish' resurface? If anything it may have been better to give him another season so if he continued to fail at least then it may have been more cut and dried. But then that season would also be a write off too and when their owners have invested so heavily I guess that's unacceptable.

However, one thing that always baffled me was when he played Suarez as a lone striker - a complete midget who likes to drop deep and run the channels?!? I'm sure that confused most people, except opposition centre backs who probably could have got their deck chairs out and had a rest

And his media relations were abysmal, particulalry the Suarez thing when he was a car crash of epic proportions. As good as he was around the time of Hillsborough he was equally bad with that one.


SO - within a week of the season ending two managers sacked already. Should be an intersting close season.
