Does anybody understand the phenomenon known as Jack White? What am I missing. Congrats to him but I don't understand. It's just not musical to me. Band of skulls .... I did like the Raconteurs, but as a huge fan of Brendan Benson I reckon he restrained White's inherent crapness and handcuffed him to better songwriting principles.

He's a very good guitarist and as was stated earlier a great lyricist. Whether you like him or not, it's surely plain to see he had a talent beyond appealing to hipsters !

My son digs JW and he really enjoyed Jimmy Page...

It was a really good "rockumentary" ...I just don't feel anything when I listen to JW... Which is strange because I can usually see why.... With him, I can't see why.

I guess many can....I'm glad you can too! Diversity.....It makes the world an interesting place.

I watched the guitar doc "It Might Get Loud" with Jack, the Edge, and Jimmy Page. I just checked out a couple of tracks - sounds a bit like Ted Nugent at times with the vocal quirks.

Not my cuppa tea but at least some of it it has a groove , which is more than I can say for most of what passes for music these days.

being an ex-muso myself I think part of what sets much of the melodic rock of the 80's,90's etc.. apart from what's coming out today is that I could listen to it and appreciate not only the catchy songs but the musicianship/songwriting involved, even if the sound got derivative after a while.
