Expectations for new Aerosmith?

Since Aerosmith has been saying they will release a new album this year with Jack Douglas producing, does anyone think they might get back to their roots?

I have hopes that they will make a decent record, as the last several discs they've released have left me cold.

They can take some risks as they covered quite a lot of stylistic ground, espescially on the newer releases (after reforming). but I'm all for them leaning a bit farther back on the classic material in style for a new cd. THat'd be way cool! T

There are plenty of fans disliking the new VH. And they couldn't have presented a more kick-ass return. Anything less and everyone would be wishing they never reformed. Can't really compare 'em to Queen. They were always flying all over the map in style. Their later output sucks for it,IMO. I love the new as well as older 'Smith material. Something perhaps in-between both eras would be great! I really love the band tho-so I'm just hoping it's quality,no matter what era they lean on. T

So can Aerosmith. Sometimes a band has to come full circle, and maybe it's Aero's turn. Good sign with Douglas at the production console. They obviously WANT to go in & recapture some old magic. As per the last 3-4 releases-- I like 'em all, including the much-maligned Just Push Play. It may have more updated production/mixing twists, but it's still Aerosmith tried & true that stretched their boundaries just a tad more. I hope they continue writing with Marti Fredrikson. The guy's a damn fine writer AND primo producer. Sorta wish they'd use him at the board. Crystal clear-everything I've heard from him production-wise. Either way--here's hoping the band delivers a great album! T
