RE: zakkwylde

Yes, Black Label Society's "Sonic Brew" is Zakk's heaviest work yet - and definitely more modern sounding. To me they sound a bit like Alice in Chains. Great, great stuff. I think their new one called "Stronger Than Death" has just been released in Japan. Can't wait to hear that one.

Peter

Its so bad its hard to listen to the entire thing without taking it out. So get Pride & Glory if you want Zakk's best.

RE: zakkwylde

I agree with John. The first Black Label Society album, Sonic Brew, is much more of a rock album. It kind of has a southern twang, because that's just how Zakk sounds. It's O.K., but nothing special. The new B.L.S. album, Stronger Than Death, is really heavy. It reminds me of Rob Zombie. I think it is terrible, and by far the worst Zakk album out there. My personal opinion, buy Pride and Glory and Zakk Wylde-Book of Shadows first. They are both much better.

RE: zakkwylde

Black Label Society is way heavier and more aggressive than Pride & Glory. 'Sonic Brew' sounds something like Alice In Chains/Soundgarden with a serious heavy Southern edge. Swampy power grunge/metal. The guitars are unbelievably fat, but if you're looking are melodies - they take a bit of a back seat. BLS is really all about attitude and ripping people's heads off with brute force. The new one, 'Stronger Than Death', is in the same vein - unfortunately Zakk's seems to have run out of cool ideas and hooks. Aside from the 2 mellower tracks nothing is very memorable. You may want to pick up his post P&G solo album, 'Book Of Shadows', instead. It is more acousic-based than P&G but the songs are great and he does kick it into second gear on several occasions.
