New Generation Progressive MHR

I have heard a lot about new generation Journey like bands but about prog bands not yet.

Are there any hopeful young generation MHR bands following great prog masters such as Pink Floyd, Yes, and Moody Blues?

Thanks

RE: New Generation Progressive MHR

Check out Lana Lane. Female vocalist with an excellent range. Very Progressive yet Melodic. Sometimes compared to Heart. Glass Hammer from Tennesse offers an excellent Prog/ AOR sound which goes back to the days of Classic Kansas and Styx-very Pompish. 3 excellent CD's, and I have heard the demos for the upcoming disc and they are fantastic. Flower Kings from Sweden play in a similar style, with a vocalist that sounds very much like John Wetton, although thier sound is a bit more "Prog" than Asia.

Last but not least is the Incredible Rocket Scientists which is actually Lana Lane's back up band. Four excellent releases. The 1st was compared to Journey quite a bit at the time of it's release. They have since gone more Progressive but still retain a melodic line. The new CD "Oblivion Days" features several Melodic guest stars including Tony Franklin (The Firm/ Blue Murder), and Greg Ellis from Shark Island. Excellent stuff!

Eric

RE: New Generation Progressive MHR

Susumu, if you want to hear an updated version of Pink Floyd check out Purcupine Tree from the UK. Brilliant band with a new album coming out shortly. I think you would also enjoy a band called World Trade, especially their first album on Polydor, with Billy Sherwood (now wirth Yes) on bass. They are pretty much a studio project now and no longer a going concern, but their debut album from 1990 was a great mix of AOR and progressive influences; the vocals were very much like Jon Anderson as well.

Also, Magna Carta Records has released a number of albums by up and coming progressive (hard) rock bands, including Enchant, Magellan, Cairo, and Tiles as well as stuff that's more along the lines of Dream Theater, like Dali's Dilemma and Ice Age (very Styx-like vocals!).
