Steve Augeri

I just want to know if this guy is OK as a lead singer of Journey.

That is a nagging question for hundreds of thousands of Journey fans in Japan.

Thanks

RE: Steve Augeri

I can mostly agree here. IMO, Steve Perry is--and probably will be--the best rock vocalist I have ever heard, but if Perry couldn't continue for whatever reason--personally, I don't think his upper voice can withstand a tour of Journey songs as evidenced by the end of the FTLOSM tour of '94--but that aside, they found probably one of the best possible people to take over from Perry if the decision had to be made. I doubt they could have found a better replacement overall--sure, someone like Kevin Chalfant is more Perry-like naturally, but Steve Augeri is pretty much dead on now. Just don't judge him unless you have heard/saw the summer 1999 tour--ANYTHING from 1998 doesn't come close of giving you a current interpretation of how he sounds--both in voice and confidence projected while singing.

Kevin
