Rainmaker, USM, Dark Sky, Crystal Ball

Hi folks,

just finished uploading new tracks to www.rocktracks.de :

- Rainmaker - same
Very good Z stuff featuring mastermind Tommy Denander (SayIt, Rainmaker and
thousands more) and vocalist Geir Ronning (Prisoner) as well as Tony
Franklin (Blue Murder, Whitesnake). Imagine a good mix of Prisoner and Talk
Of The Town in crystal clear sound. Unfortunately some of the songs sound
like you heard them a hundred times before. www.rocktracks.de

- USM - Silver Step Child

Is this gonna be the new direction for rock music ? Or just too diverse for
any kind of rock or metal fan ? Hard to say, this will have to stand the
test of time. Anyway there are influences of Pantera, Metallica, Pink Cream
69, Balance Of Power anmd a bunch of other artist. The songs are written by
former Balance Of Power lead vocalist Tony Ritche, featuring Lionel Hicks on
drums and Pete Southern on guitar. Pete is playing like a wizard on some
tracks and Lionel is giving the songs the necessary power end energy. Most
of the songs have huge hooklines in the chorus, but tend to mix up breaks
and many styles during the rest. Anyway 'Believe It Or Not' has to be in
every AOR manual and is the most commercial song on the album. Most of the
tracks need at least three or four spins, but they definatley grow !
www.rocktracks.de

- Dark Sky - Believe It

Listening to this album gave me all kind of feeling from 'Hey, awesome' to
'Oh my god, crap'. It starts off with a huge, keyboard driven, Europe-like
'Rock Me', but unfortunately the lead vocals sound VERY german. The album
shows a great variety, but there are some filler among the 14 tracks.
www.rocktracks.de

- Crystal Ball - Hard Impact

Awesome new melodic hard rock album in the vein of
DOKKEN/VICTORY/BONFIRE/STRATOVARIUS by the swiss guys. Crunchy guitars
combined with powerful vocals and killertracks like 'Own Way', 'Soul Mate',
'Won't Bite' or 'Feel The Passion' make this a top notch release of 2000 and
the whole genre in general. www.rocktracks.de

Check them out on www.rocktracks.de

Take care
Klaus

What's next ? Am I getting shot from Frontiers, because I rated the new Praying Mantis 'only' 100/100 ?

DJ

Same guitars, same drums (computer ?). Recently Denander is going to be the new Chris Ousey ..... or Jeff Scott Soto ..... appearing on too much stuff ..... and this is simply listenable. Even the chorusses have similarities.

And I just did some research and listened to a few CDs. First it was just a feeling regarding the similarities of Rainmaker to Talk Of The Town, but I just figured out that Rainmaker Track 2 is the same like the Talk Of The Town japanese bonus
track, only the lead vocal part is replaced .........

Oh, and I realized both (Rainmaker & Talk Of The Town) were produced by
Tommy Denander ... maybe this is the explanation.

DJ

With all due respect I don't think so, they are more akin to a Scandie Whitesnake, with a soupcon of Sykes era Lizzy, and nods and winks at Toto, Kansas, Pink Floyd etc
As for USM- I suggest that they could be an exciting sign of things to come in rock music. Everyone should check it out.
