Andrew's Faux Pas - For Shame

Andrew, I just noticed the following posted on your site:

The Top 20 most popular countries visiting the site are: USA/Canada, UK, Sweden, Japan, Germany, Australia, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, France, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Portugal, Brazil, New Zealand, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Mexico.

Being a Canadian, I question whether you believe that USA and Canada are one and the same. It's not like Australia/New Zealand you know (hahaha).

RE: Haha....Thanks...sorry :)

Well, to help clarify this with what I know.

.ca addresses are generally for government entities and non-commercial organizations including universities and such whereas .com and .net have different connotations which are usually linked to commercial entities.

There is actually a set of rules for the 3 classes. I'm sure an internet FAQ will exist on IP Addressing that clarifies this.

The point being, at least in North America, .ca is not the exlusive identifier for Canadian sites.

What the proporition it will be? I feel the hour 17:00-24:00 UTC Time Zone is the busiest as far as the number of access is concerned.

My rough estimate is Ameicas 2, Asia/Australia 2 Europe/UK 6.

Regards

Susumu

Haha....Thanks...sorry :)

Well, yeah...no excuses!
Thanks to Bob - my ISP man and chief problem solver for providing a little insight there...

My Stats report does have listed .ca addresses which add to 5% of traffic or something like that, but as Bob says above, the North american address are very hard to tell apart, so hence the USA/Canada link. North America may have been more politically correct :) !!

Thanks for the post!

Best regards,
Andrew.
